Still want to weave? Here are some tips from our top weavers!
- Need a face covering to go to the store? Why not weave your own! Check out this instructional video shared with us by master weaver Teddy Roosevelt: How to make your own woven mask
- Soak all weaving materials in bleach for 48 hours before use to ensure sterility (please note: if your basket-weaving techniques involve putting materials in your mouth, we recommend soaking materials for an additional 24 hours to be extra careful, and materials should be used immediately upon removal from the bleach.)
- If you are travelling to a local pool to practice weaving, make sure they are using woven dividers to keep all weavers at least 6 feet apart, and have attendants on-hand to constantly squirt hand sanitizer into the pool when in use. If you would like to weave pool dividers, watch this video created by IAPEPUWBWTH intern Moira Nona to learn how: Weaving Social-Distancing Pool Dividers
- Want to experience the social side of underwater basket weaving, but don't want to break your local stay-at-home order? Try weaving alongside Ivanna Drusselhoff, the director of IAPEPUWBWTH with this video: Weave with Ivanna!
- Or weave in real-time with your friends, all from the comfort of your own home, over video-conferencing apps like Zoom (we caution users against submerging their devices when live-weaving. Although it may be a much better angle, your device will not be protected against the potential spread of COVID germs through the water, which could then be carried over the interwebs and infect your friend, even from afar.)
